Languages: Polish, English
The handbook Zagadki i żarty, within the framework of the teaching Polish as a foreign language section, is intended for foreigners, especially English speakers.
Each of the puzzles-exercises is a grammar exercise which in an unconventional and amusing way helps consolidate knowledge on the Polish (pronunciation, vocabulary, word-formation, orthography, homonyms, synonyms, adjectival oppositions, aspect, various grammatical forms of verbs, syntax - prepositional structures, phraseological collocations, colloquial words and phrases, etc.) and at the same time introduces literary elements - sayings, proverbs, literary quotes, or full texts of Polish authors, e.g. epigrams.
The handbook is addressed mainly to beginners, but can also be helpful to more advanced students.
The book contains: 186 PUZZLES-EXERCISES, a KEY to the puzzles, an INDEX of the grammar problems and the semantic fields, and a Polish-English DICTIONARY of the employed words.
